Are you looking for a friendly congregation in the Mississauga area? We’d be delighted to welcome you
here at the Church of the Holy Spirit of Peace. Do come and meet us - we'd love to see you here!
Where you'll find us
Our church address is 1170 Tynegrove Rd, Mississauga, ON L4W 3B2. The nearest major intersection is
Dixie and Burnhamthorpe (we are one traffic light west of that, at Golden Orchard and Burnhamthorpe).
The MiWay Route 26 (Burnhamthorpe) stops on the corner going both east- and westbound. The church
also has a spacious parking lot with free parking, backing onto the pleasant green space of Applewood Hills Park, in case you’d like a stroll afterwards.
Worship Services - what to expect
We encourage you to plan to arrive for a service about 5 minutes before the start time; that will give you a
chance to hang up your coat (if you’d like), pick up a worship bulletin (our printed booklet that includes
everything you need to participate in the service), and choose a spot to sit. Before 10AM worship you’ll also get
to enjoy our gifted musician playing a prelude (a piece of music offered before the service begins).
During the service, we have some brief times of silence, we pray, read passages from the Bible aloud, hear a
sermon (reflection/message) from the Pastor relating to the readings of the day and their meaning in our lives
here and now, and receive Holy Communion - a sacrament (ritual) which reminds us of Jesus’ last meal with his
disciples and in which we believe Jesus is present in the bread and wine we share. At 8AM, the whole service is
spoken; at 10AM, we sing parts of the service and also sing some hymns (songs) together. The earlier service usually runs about 35-40 minutes; the 10AM service is generally about 75-90 minutes (it’s longer due to the
addition of music, along with greater numbers of worshippers taking part in Holy Communion).
Coming with kids? While we don’t currently offer regularly scheduled separate kids’ programming, we love to welcome children in our services and we encourage you to bring your whole family. If the younger ones get
restless, feel free to bring your own snacks and small toys, and if there’s some fussing, don’t worry - we’re a
pretty laid-back bunch.
If you have any questions, or need help figuring out any part of the service, don’t hesitate to ask any of us– we
all want you to feel comfortable and included.
What to wear
Speaking of being laid back, there’s no specific dress code to attend. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.
